Yernia wasn’t in a good mood at all.

Since she had stayed at Duke Lecardo’s residence after getting married to Cassian, she became increasingly suspicious of the chef’s cooking skills.

“I guess it doesn’t suit your taste,” Cassian said as he sat across her, watching Yernia with his chin on his hand.

He seemed curious of her judgment.

“Um.

It tasted a bit strange.”

Yernia looked at scrambled eggs and sausages on the plate.

It was a simple brunch.

Yernia had been impressed by the chef’s cooking skills the whole time she was here but today was different.

The food was too salty.

Aside from the saltiness, the scrambled eggs appeared too soft and mushy that she might as well consider them liquid.

“Do we have a new chef today, Cassian” She was certain that the resident chef hadn’t created this.

“I’m surprised that he had served this dish to us.”

Yernia gulped down water to rinse her mouth.

“I think I’m going to live despite the taste.

Cassian, don’t eat this.

It’s salty, mushy and it’s—-”

“Should I have tried it myself” Cassian murmured seriously.

Why did he want to eat it just to suffer

“No, don’t eat it.

Please don’t eat it, Cassian.”

Yernia’s fierce response made Cassian raise an eyebrow.

“If you hate it that much then maybe I need to taste it.”

“You’ll regret it if you do that.

I don’t know if I’m allowed to say this, but this food isn’t suitable for humans no matter how sincere you are.”

Yernia lowered her voice so she wouldn’t be heard throughout the kitchen.

Nevertheless, Cassian scooped some scrambled eggs with the spoon, and his face darkened after that single bite.

“Forget that you ate this, Yernia.”

“What”

“This is trash.”

Yernia agreed to some extent, but openly calling it trash was just too much.

She gave the kitchen a sideways glance.

Yernia found the sausage edible, so she ate that.

On the other hand, Cassian consumed the rest of the food.

Yernia suddenly heard a plate crashing on the kitchen floor  that she had to get up from her seat.

“Cassian, are you hurt I think I just heard a plate crack.”

“I’m not hurt.

Just stay here, Yernia.”

When Yernia sneaked into the kitchen, she heard Cassian’s piercing voice fly around like an arrow.

After that, the rest of the fragile tablewares came crashing down.

Was Cassian scolding the new chef

Even so, she didn’t think he would scold him while breaking plates at the same time.

Yernia waited a little longer, but didn’t hear Cassian shout or the chef cry in the background.

As she remained in her seat, the food became more plausible before arriving at the table.

Before Yernia knew it, Cassian had rolled up his sleeves and brought the new dish himself.

Did you make this yourself, Cassian”

“Why do you think so”

Cassian had stayed in the kitchen for a while, and his sleeves were rolled up his arms as if to prevent them from catching fire.

In addition to that, his fingers were full of cuts.

“I wondered what took you so long in the kitchen.”

“I didn’t make this food.

Here.

Eat it and tell me what you think.

Be honest.”

Yernia still thought that Cassian did it.

She would pretend to believe that for now.

The food’s visuals were better this time around.

“Well…”

Upon eating the scrambled eggs, Yernia didn’t know how to react.

With a spoon inside her mouth, she glanced at Cassian’s countenance.

She couldn’t say that it tasted terrible because Cassian made it himself.

“Doesn’t it taste good”

Telling him edible was kinder than telling him it wasn’t delicious.

“No! It’s alright! I think I can eat it.”

“I trusted the chef and shot myself in the foot.

Don’t eat it, Yernia.”

He whipped away the plate and Yernia drank water as soon as Cassian disappeared.

Cassian hadn’t confirmed her suspicion but she knew that he cooked the food himself just by being offended at her criticisms.

“I tasted this one myself.

It’s all right.”

“What about earlier”

“I fed it to the chef.”

That was evil.

Too evil.

Did he feed that horrible dish to the chef because he didn’t dare to eat what he made

Cassian wasn’t the son of the devil.

He was the devil himself.

Yernia ate nervously, but it tasted better than she expected.

“Oh, this one is good.”

“Oh, that’s a relief.”

Compared to the previous two dishes, this was quite delicious.

The chef must have helped Cassian a lot from the sidelines.

“The new chef is so horrible at cooking.” He added.

So, Cassian refused to admit that he made all those dishes earlier

It didn’t suit Yernia’s taste, but she continued pretending not to know so that Cassian wouldn’t feel embarrassed.

She thought about teasing him a little bit as she took a bite of the scrambled egg.

“Well, it’s delicious, Cassian.

You should try it, too.”

Yernia fed him the scrambled eggs, and Cassian ate them proudly.
