Jennan glanced behind Yernia again.

Wondering who he was looking at, Yernia inadvertently tried to turn around, but Jennan grabbed her arm to bring her attention back to him.

“I think you’re amazing as well, Yernia.”

“Then, you must like people in general.”

“Yes, I know that you’re kind.

I’m glad I like you but—-”

Jennan seemed strange  today.

If it was him, he wouldn’t even want to see this woman anywhere.

Yernia patted Jennan twice on the shoulder.

It felt strange but lovely.

***

Cassian was in a terrible mood.

He hated how Yernia said such a thing to the opera singer so casually, how he heard it, and how she turned around as if she wanted to run away from him.

He was on his way home after a brief meeting.

His staff had encountered a problem with his business, so he went there to solve it as soon as possible.

On the way back, he found a familiar carriage near Lecardo Street.

He searched around his surroundings, expecting Yernia to be there to ride the carriage.

Then, he saw Yernia and the opera singer nearby, standing there face-to-face.

When his eyes met with the bastard’s, Jennan dared to touch her hair.

Cassian’s internal organs twisted painfully.

He wanted to break the man’s insolent wrist.

However, Cassian couldn’t hear the conversation well because of the distance.

As he approached Yernia, his face stiffened as soon as he heard it.

“You said you liked it earlier.”

“Yes, I like it.”

He had no idea what the two had talked about earlier, but the short conversation he heard was enough to shock him.

Not wanting  to see Yernia’s face, Cassian turned his back when the opera singer replied, “I like it, too.”

He ran away from the spot.

“Stupid!”

He swore at himself.

Cassian should have listened until the end and not run away from it.

Although she said she liked it, Yernia could have felt only longing for Jennan like he assumed.

He was so angry to hear that the son-of-a-b*tch also admitted he liked her too, but he still had to look at Yernia’s expression.

Was she surprised

Did both of them had fun together while he’s at work

He was so embarrassed that her cheekbones had  turned as red as a tomato.

“Do people say they like someone when they admire that person” Cassian asked Joseph as he tried to get on his horse.

It took a while for Joseph to understand him before he replied, “Is this about your wife”

“Damn it.”

He drove his fingers through his hair in frustration.

Cassian couldn’t keep hovering around Yernia after clearly warning her to stay away from that bastard.

It was nerve-wracking to remind himself he couldn’t kill him.

‘Yes, I like it.’

Cassian thought Yernia was just crushing on that opera singer but it turned out her feelings weren’t that simple.

If she wasn’t just a fan yearning for her idol…

If Yernia really liked that gold-digging gigolo…

What should Cassian do if he loved her

The assumption alone caused something heavy to settle at the pit of his stomach.

It hurt.

He felt ill.

In his head, he imagined Yernia holding hands with the opera singer and kissing him.

What unfolded next was their marriage.

“How about me”

Cassian crouched down while clutching his belly.

He felt his intestines were twisted from the inside out so he couldn’t breathe.

***

“Is my husband sick” Yernia asked in disbelief.

Cassian’s assistant, Joseph, nodded.

“I think so.

The Marquis must be very sick.”

“…..”

“You have to support him at times like this, my Lady.

I believe in you.”

The unexpected news welcomed Yernia when she finally returned after buying Cassian’s present.

Cassian lay there sick but she had no idea it was the kind of sickness that only love could cure.

“Alright, thanks for letting me know.”

The mansion was in uproar as the Marquis laid in bed.

She heard the employees murmur, “This is the first time that milord had been sick.”

Joseph told her to go to Cassian’s bedroom immediately, which worried her.

As soon as she opened the door, the doctor informed her that Cassian had caught the love bug.

“Was it because of that girl then”

The woman who stood up to Cassian at the restaurant must have made him sick.

Did he like her that much

“Cassian.”

Yernia slipped through the door, not knowing how to deal with someone who’s lovesick.

Cassian just stared at Yernia as he lay in bed.

He seemed upset.

“Did you go somewhere without my knowledge”

As soon as he asked, she answered.

“No.”

Why was he staring at her like that

Yernia stayed in place.

“Come here, Yernia.

I feel sick.”

“I heard.”

Yernia stood up Cassian and noticed tears staining his cheeks.

“Were you crying, Cassian”

Cassian had wept because of love

She couldn’t imagine it.

As Yernia wiped the moisture near his eyes, Cassian frowned.

“I didn’t cry.”

He must have cried.

“Why would I cry I would never do that even in my imagination.”

When Yernia glanced up at him, distracted, he imagined her looking at Jennan instead of him.

“You said you liked it earlier.”
